Definitely a satisfying finish to the series. Well to the original trilogy anyway.
Good action, the only real annoyance was the shaky camera fight scenes. It was also used during the Bourne Supremacy, but this was over the top, like in Transformers.
I would still say watching this in the theater was worth it. My preference is still seeing big action movies on the big screen.
Just don’t sit too close…

Yay! Something 18 years in the making? I remember as a kid staying up past my bedtime to watch the little Simpsons shorts on the Tracy Ullman show. Yes, I tuned in right around the time I knew they would be on. Needless to say I was super excited to see the Simpsons Movie.
My take, yes, I loved it. However, it might be due to the fact that I’m not really a religious watcher of the tv show, so I’m not necessarily tired of all the jokes.
Recommendation: If you are interested in seeing it now, go for it. Otherwise, it’s just a cartoon, DVD is just fine.

Giant Robot fighting movie, what’s not to like?
If you’re a fan of the cartoon series, you might remember some differences:
- Bumblebee is a VW Bug, not a Camaro
- Megatron turns into a gun, not a jet/cannon
- Devastator is a giant robot made up of five smaller transformers, not a giant tank
- Jazz is a Porsche, not a Pontiac Solstice
If you were more of a casual viewer, or just watching the movie just because, then who cares about all of the above. The CG integration with the live actors is pretty much seamless.
Some things I noticed from the movie and cartoon, Megatron was more based on the animated movie version Galvatron, who was able to transform both into a jet and a cannon. The memorable Megatron line “you have failed me yet again, Starscream” made it, as well as Starscream cowardly leaving his comrades to die.
One major thing that annoyed be was the superduperextra close-up camera during the climactic fight scene. I’m pretty sure it was done to convey the hugeness of the robots, but the shaky camera just ended up getting annoying.
Overall though, must say I loved the movie. Would probably see it again in the theater, just for the effects.

Being the longest book (so far), I expected a lot to be trimmed off in order to get into a decent length movie.
Basically your typical Harry Potter movie. I know some people have complained that they cut out too much and et cetera, but I think concentrating on Umbridge and her takeover of Hogwarts was a good choice to make. Sure, I would have liked to see more background in terms of the actual Order of the Phoenix, but I’ll live.
Definitely a plus to have the book source knowledge going in.
Worth seeing now if you’re a Harry Potter fan. Maybe worth the matinée price.

I had been looking forward to this movie for some time. If not for the whole ‘Bruce Willis is an old guy still doing action movies,’ I had also enjoyed the previous installments.
In short, this was a great action flick that didn’t leave many boring minutes. Justin Long (the Mac guy) was believable as a low level hacker. Kevin Smith! Maggie Q! The plot made sense!
Sure, you probably won’t remember much about it after a week or so, but it’s a great way to get out of the heat and burn two hours…

Caught this movie the day after Pirates.
The good ol’ cast is back, minus Julia Roberts. Newbie is Al Pacino.
Funny and pace was good. Much better than Ocean’s 12.
Cool easter egg – The charity mentioned at the end of the film is real. Pretty neat that they were chosen for mention (or a really big coincidence), but apparently they were mentioned without any prior notice.

As expected, this movie starts off exactly where Pirates 2 left off. I think part of this is because they filmed these two together and cut them up afterward. Definitely recommend watching part two before this one.
Overall enjoyable movie. Nothing really bugged me. There were some pretty funny scenes, and it was mostly action packed. I think they could have shortened it a bit, but it didn’t really feel as long as it was – I guess that’s a good sign.
There’s a short scene at the end of the credits… I won’t say it was worth staying for, but you might be able to find a clip online or something?

Not going to bother with too many details, but here’s a few quick points after watching Spider-man 3 during the opening weekend:
- Did we really need Sandman? Really, besides being a sympathetic character, he was kind of wasted screen time.
- The New Goblin storyline??? Umm yeah, no.
- Venom. Spidey’s arch-nemesis is relegated to third in the importance chain? Did they really not have enough material to make a whole movie about Spider-man vs Venom?
I know they did some of these things because this was the “final” installment in the “trilogy,” but did they really have to try to answer everything? Would anything have been hurt if some things were left as cliffhangers or just simply left out? I don’t think so.
Bottom Line: Worst of the trilogy. Wait for DVD.

Esther and I had a night out on Saturday. Took a Craig style dinner (aka 4:30PM) at Lawry’s, and then it off to the Pantages Theatre for…

WOW. What a great show. Honestly, ever since I missed the first LA run last year, I was a bit skeptical of how good this musical really was. I thought there was just a lot of ‘new musical’ type hype and whatnot. Still, when Esther had a chance to get pre-sale tickets, we grabbed them pretty quickly.
For those of you who haven’t followed the story, Wicked gives you the ‘backstory’ of the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch as they grew up together. The story is well told, funny, most of the original Broadway cast is still in tact, and the music was great.
Obviously I couldn’t snap any pictures inside, but here are a few I was able to find online.

I know most of the performances have been sold out, but I did see a sign that there are limited numbers of front orchestra seats sold DAY OF SHOW via lottery! If you get a chance, I highly recommend you SEE IT.
